    MPC307 scanner skew . .

    HI,

New machine with a skewing scan, both using the glass as well using the ADF (?!)
This scanner is fixed I think, can't see an adjustment on scanner rail or other . . .

Or is there an adjustment available for the scanner or ADF.

Not that many MPC307's in the field

    Thanks in advance.

ok so, you have now isolated not to be the print engine.

from glass and feeder indicates it's not feeder related either.

        now comes the fun part.

you'll have to remove at the very least, the glass(s) and bezel plastic

the CCD has to move ( either on track or auto scan right?)

not knowing this model.. admitted ...

but if it has tracks/gears/belt/cables something is not aligned.

does the SM have any tools listed that would be a a "jig" for scanner?

do you have PM for scanner section?

I would review those sections.. (sorry didn't see any real mention of manual review)

You say that it is a new machine. Did the skew problem appear upon initial testing in your office or after delivering it to your customer? If during initial testing it is an out of box failure and Ricoh should replace the machine. Otherwise, the scanner frame has been warped during transport, possibly due to placing a tie down strap over the left front corner of the feeder.

How much is the skew out by?

"New machine?" pass if back to Ricoh under warranty sounds like the scanner was knocked/damaged during transit.

Agreed. If any pressure is put on the left front of the scanner where it is unsupported by the machine below, it can get tweaked. Have seen it happen on the larger machines too. I have removed the scan glass and "tweaked" them back up before back in the day. The little desktops, not as much room to move... That's why our delivery crews drop off these machines still in the box with the Styrofoam support leg still under the scanner for support.

Not much, customer complains about it though.
