[Misc] RICOH MP301 SPF - USB Scanning (no longer appears on scan options)

    Can't scan anymore!!!
A week a ago scanning option in "scan - READY" section no longer an option for USB scanning.

    It disappeared.
I tried resetting machine, but no good.
It is gone! I can't scan to USB/memory card anymore.

I had machine hooked up to on/off switch, so did not shut off using on/off button on actual machine. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Had it for a year and not problems. Out of no where this happened.

    Did it get reprogrammed?

Also, I have been unable to scan directly to my computer using USB cable. HEEELPPPP!

are you saying you just cut power to the machine with your "switch"

yeah big problem.. more than likely you have scrambled the HDD

    1) get rid of the damn switch

    2) get a TRAINED TECH to fix it.. he will need to replace system files and firmware IF the HDD hasn't been mechanically damaged.

You're not going to get very far here with lies. Your profile shows that you are in Atwater, CA. That places you between Stockton and Merced, closer to Merced. There 5 Ricoh dealers in the Merced area.

Thank you. I sincerely had no idea. I will Google again. Can you please direct me to one you may know? The only one I knew about is in Stockton or Fresno.

Machine has HDD - According to Slim - there is a dealer in Merced. I will wait for his reply to one. I called around, but they try to sell me a machine instead of wanting to fix mine - Modesto area. I had no idea there is one in Merced area. I asked around, but no one recommended a place in Merced area.

Valley Business Center, 1223 W Main St, Merced, CA 95340
                  Called - no answer.

An MP 301 SPF should be small enough for you to take it to them. Might save a buck or two.

I will do that. Thanks. I like to learn, but in this case, may be out of my time and knowledge base to undertake.

Just FYI...Scanning to PC via USB cable was never an option on that model.
                        Network scanning ONLY.

This is not correct. The opposite is actually true
The HDD is an option this model and is NOT required for printing or scanning to email or folder. It IS necessary for scanning to SD card / memory device.
I've removed several from re-sale boxes where the user does not want/ need the added functionality, and the spare HDD's come in handy.
It sounds to me like the poster was primarily scanning to the USB device and that the HDD has failed, although I would typically expect there to be at least an error message flashing in the corner of the screen to indicate a problem

No error message. Prior to issue, only scan option via USB.

Nothing special about the hard drive. Pop one in and see.
                              2.5" sata.
The HDD is minimum 128Gb, but you can install a larger one without issue
