MPC 307 Can't print test pages or do copies

Hi all,
I had a customer get SC 670-02 on their MPC 307. A colleague of mine tried swapping controller board but made no change at all. I had a look and it has a flow chart on service manual that ended up saying swap BICU. I went there yesterday and swapped BICU and changed NVRAM so they still had their one. Machine turned on ok with no SC code but when I tried to print a counter page it said 'Counter page cannot be printed at this time' or something similar. I then tried to print a colour test page from SP Print and it says 'printing' and light flashes but nothing happens. Same again if you try to make a copy of a page. However I sent a scan to email and that worked fine.
I thought it was something to do with print so I cleared print memory and reboot but it made no change. I then put the new NVRAM on it but even that was the same so I put their one back on again. Tried turning it on without HDD plugged in and that made no difference.
I feel like this happened on another machine years ago and I really cannot remember what it was that caused it or how I fixed it. Need someone to kick my memory!

I think you may be thinking of a resolution to SC 682 with the id chips. SC 670 is to do with controller/bicu mainly.

have you already tried with toner?

I didn't touch the toners as there was no mention of them in service manual for related codes

SC 670-02 Is as others said the toner bottles/ID chips/connectors

I agree this is a toner issue believe it or not.

Most likely the contacts in the back & soiled with toner.

Remove all the toners & use canned air or the like & blast out the rear where the toners contact.

Of all the problems i've seen to do with toner and id chips on the damn 305 (mainly) then 306 and 307 I have never seen an SC code pointing only towards controller and bicu turn out to be a measly toner.
Lesson learned today. Great thing about this forum, having faith in other guys around the world who have the same day to day struggles as yourself. You are the only reason I sent out an engineer with a set of toner as I never would have thought of it. Thanks again

One of our service guys recently told me that Ricoh UK's recommendation with any fault on these boxes is to now replace all the toners first before doing anything else.

If that is advise from Ricoh then that's pretty much admitting that this is a poorly made machine. Set of toner isn't exactly cheap, especially when they come half full and 'run out' with about 15% still in the bottle

With most Ricoh color machines 15% to 17% toner remaining is the warning level. That is the level that the machine displays the toner us almost out. It is an alert to order more toner not to replace it.

My dealership is so small if we replaced them at warnings we would be out of business in a year. We put stickers on every toner that goes out that says 'Only replace the toner when it is empty, not when it is displaying low toner' but the smaller machines ofter say empty and stops working, when you take it out it still has some in there. Ricoh toner as well not compatible crap.

There are some SP modes you can change to ensure the bottles are empty before the message pops up.
