when answering the fax line, there is no sound from the aficio. when sending a fax, no dial tones are heard, nor any sound from the connection being made. in user tools/facsimile features, all the volumes are set to '3', and can be heard when pressing 'check'. in the SP menu, all i can find relative to fax sound is the 'test' menu, and each sound is heard during testing. in the facsimile menu, the dialtone can be heard when pressing 'on hook'. i have not found any settings beyond what is shown in the features menu over in the 'web image monitor'. the machine works, and has been 'silent' when faxing since i bought it (second owner). I would like to enable the fax sounds. Hope someone can suggest something i have not tried, and yes i have been through the manual many times. thanks in advance.

- Have you checked that the cord to the wall jack is plugged into the "Line" jack on the 3350 and not the "Phone" jack?
- Have you unplugged the cord from the 3350 and plugged it into a single line phone to test the cord and the wall jack for dial tone?

yes, there is dialtone from phone, and the 'on hook' has dialtone as previously stated. the machine sends and receives faxes perfectly - just totally silent.Comment

@davel & @copier tech ..
I thought a forum was a place to ask legitimate questions.
Thanks for increasing the activity count on my post, that will possibly help it get the attention of someone wanting to actually help someone else.
Why do I want to hear the fax, or even fax in 2020? Why do you want to waste your own and everyone's else's time with ineffectual responses in a forum? Answer: cause people gonna do what they want to do, lol.

Re: ricoh aficio 3350 no sound during fax initial transmission.
This poster is asking a valid question about faxing, and he is being treated very poorly, why not just answer the question or leave it alone.
As to why use a fax in 2020, many hospitals and doctors use fax instead of email because fax is much more secure, it's harder to hack than email. Also many government offices are behind the times and still use fax every day.
It really does not matter why the customer is still using fax, if they require fax, we provide fax.
As for hearing the tones, some customer want to hear the tones so they know when it's communicating, again, it does not really matter why they want them on, if they request the tones, we give them tones.Comment
