No worries mate, I think most of us are guilty of misreading a post sometimes when answering it. I haven't looked at it again yet, the office is only open 9-12 and I spent 2 hours today figuring how to get this bloody Canon apart. Easy once you know how, of course. Problem was two screws were stripped out of their plastic posts. It has a springloaded latch that has to be pushed in before closing the paper feed thingy, "someone" didn't know this and used brute force to try and close it!

Could do, I suppose, but I'm trying to keep things simple for them. I repaired the broken Canon and the Ricoh is now functioning with all previous facilities, including the user locks they had before, except for the scan-to-email. It's annoying me, but I think I'll quit while I'm ahead.

Slimslob, one final word, when I try to enable SSL under WIM it states that "SSL is unavailable without a device certificate installed", and my attempts to create one result in the error 404, which you've explained to me. I see no obvious way of setting it to https. No matter.

Again, many thanks for all the assistance members have shown. Now back to my retirement.

The C3002 lacks the processing power to allow more than one function to have access to secure communications using SSL. When you have an application that requires a Device Certificate, it takes priority over scan to email over SSL. Unless they are using an application that needs a secure connection to another computer or server on the network, get rid of the Device Certificate. There is also the option to setup a local email relay service such as Stunnel on one of their computers.

Thanks mate, I've convinced them to do without it, as it was really a convenience rather than a necessity.
As for the processing power (or lack thereof) that makes sense as I noticed that it could be very slow responding when I made changes as Admin.

Now I just have to fix my Lexmark laser, but that's another story.

you can use a program like scan to pdf with the twain driver and then enable it to scan email addresses..
Not much to it and it works
