And THAT'S why formatting the HDD alone doesn't always resolve the issues...only replacing it.
But if he's tested the machine with no HDD at all and it's still sitting on "Please wait" then it's most likely as Slim stated...an App stalled.
Or at worst the Controller PCB.

frankly I think he should disable all aps and go from there.

if he formats it he will need to reload firmware

your profile is missing LOTS of vital info... ARE you a trained RICOH tech? How many years in the industry? did you read the S Manual?
All data in yours profile is irrelevant if you don't know that when you replace the hd on ricoh machine you don't need to reload firmware.

Apparently you do not know anything about Java applications on Ricohs. Many of them are ran from the HDD. Others store data on the HDD that if lost, as a result of formatting the HDD, will require installing the app again.

If you looked in service manual for MPC 400 under installing new hdd, there is nothing about java.

I'm sorry to let you know that you may have a "BICU" problem

Not long ago, we suffered a similar problem with an MP C4502, did not boot the system, did not allow access to SP MODE, and only showed a SC 99x.

If you've tried disconnecting HDD, FAX, and USB ports from the Operations Panel. Another recommendation I can't make.

Most JAVA apps are written by third parties and as such are covered with the documentation that comes with the JAVA app, not the service manual.

Also when you reinstall Dara Overwrite Security Unit, HDD Encryption Unit or ELP NX you are reinstalling the firmware for those apps.

MPC400 is an old unit, I doubt that he have installed Overwrite Security Unit, HDD Encryption Unit and ELP NX.

I was only quoting what you posted. Are you saying that the information you posted did not come from the MPC400 service manual as you claimed when you posted it?

By the way, MPC 305 is an even older unit. It has HDD Overwrite, HDD Encryption and Secure Print available for the optional HDD.

Is it slimslob your boss or your boyfriend that you can"t stop kissing his ass.
Look... I just give a Jama a tip what would I do first. I have simular problems and I solved it with hdd format or change it with new one on a few devices.
Why you two have to discard everyone who doesn't think as you two? Slimslob and I give him a tip now let him decide for himself what he will do.
I don't care if I'm on your iggy list....you and slimslob have been on mine for a long time.
                      Have a nice day.

you really love to push an issue.

he is neither my boss ( he is in CA I'm in NC but if you look a profiles you would know that fact)

we don't discard everyone just jackasses. we both have close to 70 years combined so that proves to me that we know what we are talking about most of the time.

the thing about profiles ( properly filled out ) this gives us senior techs a look into a users abilities ... those that don't fill in the information leaves us guessing as IF the user has been formally trained on Brand/Model of machines.

and to block a user like SlimSlob just shows ignorance on your part... he is one of the most knowledgeable Ricoh techs here.

Thanks for suggestion, the problem seams to be controller/BICU, will be fixing same and see whether the problem will be sorted. Today I replaced new hdd but nothing happened, still showing ''please wait message''
