    mpc406 set fuser

Hi techs, I have a ricoh mpc406 that i just replaced the fuser unit it was new from ricoh and when I inserted it into the machine the display said to check fuser. then i put in the old fuser and it worked, but each time I reinserted the new one it still wouldn't take it .I swapped the fuser covers an placed a new fuse on the new fuser and now i get a sc544 code that I cant get rid of with another new fuse on either fuser. I'm ordering another fuser and a thermopile. Any ideas ? I work on all other color Ricoh machines and this is the only one of these I have. Thanks for any help.

What part number was the new fuser & what country are you in?

It usually works out cheaper to rebuild the fuser rather then replace the unit so Simply replacing the sleeve is all that is required.

You sure the pressure roller is $684.00? That can't be right. A new OEM fuser is $329.99.

                  Yes shocking prices from Ricoh
I now only order the complete fusing unit as its cheeper than ordering the roller for it [and its alot quicker to fit]

[and its alot quicker to fit] There in is the reason. It is not the first time that Ricoh has set priced component assembly prices lower than the parts needed to rebuild the assembly. It discourages branch managers from insisting their techs rebuild the units.
