    [Jamming] SR 4130 - J182

Having issues with a SR 4130 connected to a MP 9003
Machine throwing J182 errors when making booklets - both A3 and A4
Paper gets to the fold transport section is stapled, then get a grinding noise and then the J182, paper is stuck in the transport section unfolded
    got a few J156 J162 J168 in SMC
ive replaced the transport motor and jogger motor but not changed the issue at all.
can move the paper through the finisher manually with no issues
    any suggestions gratefully received

J182 is a booklet stapler motor jam. How many sheets are you trying to staple? If I remember correctly, most booklet finishers don't really like anything more than 15 sheets of paper. They tend to bind up on too many more sheets.

If you're doing less than 15 pages, the first thing I would try is removing the booklet staple cartridges and check for loose staples in the path, bent components, or even just try a different set of cartridges and see if that makes a difference.

    Good luck.

Only trying 4 pages, started happening after the customer removed a jam so something could be out of shape there

i havent tried new staple units i'll give that a go next time im on site too

On the exit between the gathering rollers there is a little black feeler that pops out on one side. I had a customer do exactly the same as yours, rag a jam out of it and detach the feeler on one side. Give that an eyeball.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

          Re: SR 4130 - J182 - Solved

          Just to update the thread

I've been back to site and have finally found and fixed the issue

The issue was within the booklet staple assy

A few of the gears had teeth missing and im guessing possibly a faulty motor in there too

Swapped out the gears and motor and all working again
