Strange is that the old SD cart would update other models, but not mpc3003!

A couple of reasons for that. First and foremost NOT ALL 2GB SD CARDS ARE THE SAME. I have had some manufacturers whose cards work great for copy to and print from but not firmware update. Checking the properties of cards in "My Computer" I've noticed the ones that don't work for firmware updates have a couple of hundred more usable size.

I have found that 500MB and 1GB card seem to work best. Possibly a hold over from previous models that did not take 2GN cards at all.

Lately it has become harder to find anything less that 8GB especially locally. When you do find them online they often cost more. One solution is to buy the 8GB or larger and use a drive partitioning software to create and format a 1GB primary partition.

Just had this same thing happen last week. SD card took a dump and we reloaded on to a new SD card. Updated smooth as silk after that.

Sadly the firmware update didn't help mine.

        Re: firmware update mpc3003SP failure

Even with my new SD card, package update has failed: E62 error. On a machine with another customer.
Now the machine is buzzy with romdata update.
I have devided the firmware in 2 parts... and I'm waiting now for almost +20 minutes and it still saying "wait for firmware update".
I have update separately before the package (and the rest) the sys cop & GWFCU ...
        That was no problem.
But it told me that this firmware was another number...
        I checked everything 4x , i can't see a difference!
        I do not understand this.
        Anyone?

No, 2GB is fine a 512MB will fit the package & remaining romdata files.

Print out a logging data sheet & post it here we can tell you what versions to update.

It is normal to get a message about part numbers not the same etc.

Update the system/copy & printer first before the package.

Just to back this up a little I will add that this stuff also applies to USB thumb drives. I had one that wouldn't push firmware to a Kyo no matter how many times\ways I formatted the damn think. Eventually a combination of using something other than windows (rufus), reducing the allocation unit size, and only formatting approximately 1.2gb solved it. Log story short copiers are ******* weird about formatting sometimes.

I used Mini Tool Partition Wizard. It works with HDD, USB and SD disks. It allows me to Move/Resize the partition and when formatting to specify file system type and cluster size.

Hoi Slim, thank you for this info.
But why is it working fine with ALL other models?
It seems it almost always fails with mpc3003.
One file at the time is ok, but why?

This can be due to firmware versions, some engineers are lazy & only update 1/2 roms.

Also some models have f/w released before others.

Secret is to update ALL files not just the package & KEEP them updated on the latest versions.

                          You would not believe this...
I was planning to update the firmware per every 2 items.
I have 2 SD cards and had already put 2 items on each card at the office before i went to customer.
At customer, I put one SD card in, put power on... 'waiting for firmware...' and than the whole romdata list was displayed!!!!!!
I wonder what was wrong, but did the update...
I had then 8 items succesfully updated.
I Printed out the diagnostic page afterwards and confirmed the update.
I checked the SD card and there were only 2 items on that card!!!!!!!!
I do not believe in ghosts, there must be a simple explanaition for this.
                          Anyone?

                            WOW!

The only explanation I can think of is for some reason when you previously tried to update using Package Firmware it loaded the modules to the HDD to access later.

Or, it had @remote on it at one time and the machine connected to The Ricoh firmware server and did its thing remotely. I had that happen on a c6003 once, even though we are not dealer.
