    ricoh sr860 saddle BITCH finisher

I have a Gestetner 6002 with an sr 860 saddle stich finisher
the dam thing wont fold evenly!!! adjustments from the panel do manipulate the fold... I have replaced the gears on the rollers, and such, the rollers them selves do not look skewed or rippled.
    anybody have any ideas?

I don't think I've ever come across the 860 finisher, but a few things come to mind:

Somehow the timing is off and the machine either knows it's off or it does not know it's off (it thinks everything is fine or it's screwed up.)

I'm not sure on any firmware/eeprom updates, but sometimes these fix weird things like this
    ***
Some type of guide or gate or roller is causing some type of small hangup within the operation of the paper getting to the fold knife

Does this happen with all types and with different weights of paper?

Is it erratic or is all of its folding screwed up?

Are you trying to fold a stapled document or just a single sheet?

If its just a single sheet you've got a bit of a problem! Since the folder relys on the staple to find the middle of the sheet it can't get a good registration if the staple aint there so the fold tends to move around . I've seen it move up to 5mm. "Please Except" as our Japanese friends tend to say.

If its multi sheet fold there is a long and complicated proceedure to get the jogger gates parallel and square to the paper. The service manual told me to use tool B468 9003 which i duely perchased for $80. It turned out to be a square of thick plastic sheet 250mm x 380mm !!!!

Try looking for RB 064041 its got the full proceedure there.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.
