Ricoh 551 light copies down middle

Got a Ricoh 551 i am working on that has a light area approximately down the middle of the entire copy. Its a even looking light area that seems to be about an inch wide or a little less.Changed the drum , corona wire, corona grid, cleaned laser, optics and transfer belt rollers.Developer mag rollers r clean and looks like developer is forming on them completely.Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

wouldn't hurt to check for gunk stuck behind the doctor blade.

I also recommend thoroughly cleaning the doctor blade, even though he said that the dv was cleanly forming on the mag roller. Usually, with these machines, you can see some thinner spots when the doctor blade gets buildup on it, other times you can't, yet it will still make a difference. The slit glass is a given.

Also, have you determined if it is an internal or scanning problem? Have you done an internal test print or SMC printout to identify if it is an optics problem or not? You did not specify, and we'd assume that you've narrowed it down to a scanner or printer engine problem. If you haven't, print out an SMC report and see how it looks.
