Re: Windows XP Drivers for current machines
Sometimes we don't get the choice, customer has many drivers for many printers set up in exact ways like custom size paper, booklets and so on. They don't want to update all the drivers and have to setup everything again so we leave new machines on the original drivers, print from every type of software they have and if they are happy we leave it like that. On a signed form for us to come back at a later date and make changes to network or printing is chargeable but can't say it has ever happened because the drivers are almost identical.
Besides I spoke to Ricoh Level 2 support and he even said I coud use an HP printer driver if the Ricoh doesn't work as they are the same language, the only difference being selecting different trays but these printers only have 1 tray anyway.
Tested from an old XP laptop, I can print using an HP driver that was already in the list of signed drivers to an IMC 3000 and it is fine from every application so far... The world won't end if you don't have the exact driver for each machine. Obviously any normal installation I use the correct driver from the Ricoh site, but this is the first time in 9.5 years I have had to go well outside the box to find a solution to a 20 year old PC environment.
