    SMB, scan to folder issues:
    - Sometimes when updated versions or updates come out for iOS and Windows, scan-to-folder may temporally stop working.

Another option that should work are scan to a memory device.

I don't know if WIM can be use with Mac or if it is only for Windows. If it can be accessed then you can scan to the internal document server and use WIM to retrieve the file(s).

thanks, I have to reopen this case for research again. As for what i understand last time i did a research also and found out that MAC has quit smb.......or something. I'' try to run a mac os on virtualbox and do a test there...thanks

        Mac still supports SMB.

Just one amendment, I don't know if you are aware of that, but if you are on LAN and bonjour is not disabled (by machine, switch or computer) - you can even use Airprint (secure) to scan documents. Good about this is that it sets itself automatically, the downside is that Airprint scan is not a PUSH scan, but PULL scan (same as twain/WIA driver). Also, bonjour/airprint is not a routable protocol, it will not work outside of LAN. It cannot pass gateway.

Great tip, I just tried this it works a treat, had to add a second install of the printer via AirPrint then I get the scan option. Thanks.

owh...something when wrong today. i tried the code

              sudo -s launchctl load -w /system/library/launchdaemons/ftp.plist..

activate ftp scan was successful on yosmite.

but then on catalina... i have encountered an error that says there's no such file or directory... OMG.

Is there anyway to workaround to make this scanning works?
any free ftp server software for macos?

FTP is no more supported on MAC OS, as Apple (as well as others) do not consider this plaintext protocol as secure enough. Yes, on previous versions years back you could activate the daemon (service) that runs natively and which provided ftp server. Not anymore these days. You must use 3rd party app if you want ftp server back.

Hey Slim, thx for the useful link. But for the mac os desktop/laptop you need a ftp server. Not the client

But I would recommend this one FTP Server v App Storu It is pretty easy to use and operate. Works fine with Ricoh mfps. Though not secure But when it comes to PRIMAX controlers for the smallest of the Ricoh products (soho category) - these are literally not suitable for any secure shell (no SMTPs, no SMB2/3), it is only chance how to get files over the TCP

edit: the link above is for paid app. You can use also free QuickFTP Server on the App Store

I experienced no problems to scan from a mac to a machine with SOP, the only thing is to scan inside the public folder. Tried out with catalina and a Mp 305+ without any problems

Aaah... I have stopped doing this for customers.. it is more and more complicated these days and a lot of customers are more and more suspicious why do I have to disable some of the system security settings... so.. I am not supporting this anymore.

Therefore I would recommend not to use it again until Ricoh release some new version of controller which supports packet signature.. :/
