Pro 907ex intermittent jamming in Paper Registration Section B1, CX & Z4

We are trying to find the cause of the above jam sites and are replacing the long rubber roller in the Paper Registration Section. This is the section on the right side that is a lot of work to pull out (part #1 on page 182 of the manual). We have not finished the job yet but I am having doubts that this roller is the cause. Has anyone had to replace this roller due to intermittent jamming? I don't have the print count as of yet because I am assisting and did not get all the info.

First off those are not Service jam codes, they are operator location codes.Service jam codes are the letter J followed by a 3 digit number. That 3 digit number tells exactly what sensor the jam occurred at and whether it was the lead edge of the paper or the trail edge that generated the error.

That said, B1 means that you have not closed the kick open gate B1 below the registration roller. It opens so that you don't get a multi-sheet crumple jam below the registration roller which can become very difficult to remove.

Correction, that would be the B4 code not B1. B1 would be at the registration roller. J020 would be a lead edge jam and J070 a trail edge.

Thank you for that info, when out there tomorrow I will look up the error code history. Would you know the service mode location for that? Also, have you heard of anyone having to replace that wide rubber roller? Thought those were permanent and did not wear down much.

I have never had to replace the registration roller. Just clean it with clean water. For the duplex jam, Z4, you might want to check the duolex solenoid against this bulletin. 019-rfg055165.pdf

If the customer runs NCR through the machine it causes the ends of the roller to swell, then there's no pressure between the roller and the steel roller it's paired with. They don't last long at all with some types of NCR.

Put a sheet of paper between the reg rollers and turn the knob to see how much grip the reg roller has on the paper.

Registration unit could have erratic jams due to failure of development module that sits right on top of it. If the equipment is run more than its referred volume it might have rear development module bush failure that leaks the developer on the rear side causing registration and feeding failure.
In worst case scenario, ensure that all your feeding stations are cleaned(free of leaked developer) before you replace the development module.

Thanks, but there was no leakage of developer. But good to know. We finished up the replacement of the roller and re-installed the Registration Assembly. I will tell you that is a long job! So much on the front, side and back to have to take off just to get it out. And then having to re-install it, about 6 hours since it was the first time we did this. Maybe half that when experienced. We did not charge enough either...
