    Ricoh AP3800c Cyan Toner Spill

I get a message ' loading toner' repeatedly - this resulted in the development units/ PCU's below cyan covered in cyan toner. Help! any ideas or leads gratefully received.

First off - are you an end user or tech?

If your an end user change the cyan dev unit as its a customer fit.

If your a tech go into service mode and check the life of the dev units and print off an smc report.

Often this is a dv unit not turning so no ATS signal is being sent.
I have also seen where the opening in the pump or dv unit is not opening.

I've had this a few times. By the look of things it sounds as if your cyan toner supply pump is blocked or one of the tubes leading to it is blocked. If you are a tech it can be a big job and if you haven't done it before I would suggest following the manual.

Your overtoning at the dev unit, so you know the toner is getting there. I would replace the cyan dev unit before doing anything else.

Could this be one of those cases where someone before him has been experimenting with different units in different machines?

            Just thinking out loud.

Normally, I would guess toner pump. But he says toner is spilling out around the edges (tells me pump is working). Might be pump. Might be misfit. Might be something else.

If I am right (hopefully not), this is the downfall of experimenting without good documentation that every tech in your organization knows to look out for.

            Regards

just another thing to try, dev clutches cause all sorts of problems !

if they stick on cause overtoning or spillage or if they slip cause faint copies or diagonal lines

an easy way to tell is if you watch the machine running with the door open you can see the dev units turning
