AP4510 broken paddle roller

I have a AP4510 with about 1.3mil. copies on. A 100k ago the paddle roller in the dev unit stripped. The white gear driving the paddle roller stripped the flat spot on the brown shaft. I thought nothing of it, thinking that it was just normal wear and tear. I have since replaced the PCU and the dev unit and yesterday the same thing happened to the paddle roller. This after less than 10k copies. I thought maybe i used the wrong dev. but i used dev. type 18 part number b0039640.

Any ideas

Were the PCU and dev unit you installed new or second hand? Might be it was on it's way out too...

That's peculiar. I don't suppose you have a picture of the damage to the unit?

Both the flat spots on the brown shaft is stripped round. So the white gear is turn around the shaft.20022009_002.jpg

I'd say the gears on the front of the dev unit are to blame.

Maybe the seals on the replacement one were faulty, allowing dev into the gear space and jamming the mechanism up. Only thing I can suggest is replace the dev unit again but before you install the dev take the front cap off the dev unit and put some high temperature grease on the gears. Even if a small amount of dev gets into the gears the grease will help the movement of the mixing augers.

From the picture, the dev unit has siezed and the motor has kept driving the dev unit, stripping the drive gear.
