    RICOH MPC5503

    Hello Everyone,

I have a customer that's complain when printing on 300g card selecting thick 3 on paper type, that there's a whitish faded stuffs on the printed card. But the same job will be printed on a glossy or plain paper everything its fine. I have tried to figure out the issue no idea. Does anyone knows what would be cause. Attached is copy of the printed copy. Your kind suggestion is appreciated.

Looks like a transfer problem, if the ITB looks good I'd try a new PTR.

If you stop midcycle, does a lot of toner remain on itb? If so then it's transfer related. If not then likely fuser. My first thought if fuser is the pressure roller has gotten soft, not applying enought pressure to the paper. I forget, does this model have a thick 4? 300g is likely thick 4 area.

Thick3 is only for paper weights up to 256 g/m2. You might try setting for Thick4.

Print driver doesn't have thick 4, probably I'll download new driver that has thick 4.

The driver I downloaded earlier was today was PCL6 Ver. 1.15.0.0 Released Date: 10/21/2020

I would avoid using any universal driver as those are cross platform drivers and if any of the other platforms does not support Thick4 then the universal driver will not either.

Although some universal drivers supports thick 4. I'll download another driver for the customer and let me retry.

I always set the device cassette settings to match the paper also when sending print so the settings match you will also need to use the thickest settings for 300gsm

I've found the solution, the thick paper was a counterfeit paper which didn't match the printer. I had to use the original thick paper and everything was just fine.

strange, it should print well anyway regardless of paper, as a big movie fan, I happened to print many dvd covers, did you try to change the "print quality> print priority (speed> quality)? setting in the driver. . at the time with the old cl3000 I did so, and there was no cardboard that holds .. LOL
