black or color bands on MPC3500

    hi all,

i've color bands on an mpc3500/4500

these are not the stripes at usual solved by changing the pcu (B2232042/27)

i've tryed with changing the pcu but didn't help

these bands disapear some times (some bands are 5cm)

and there is some little toner on the dev box (overtoning?)

i've tryied with a whole pcu unit (pcu + dev ) and at these times the customer didn't call back (for 2 weeks allready)

there is no RTB or MB on this problem

it can't be that im the only one who seeking this problem

    anyone has solved this problem

    thanks and greets from Belgium

          category 5:

nope i don't think so because when you pull out the whole unit from the machine you can see the bands on the drum

replacing drum is no solution because they come back after few days or weeks

like i said: now i replaced the whole unit (dev + pcu) and until now no call back by customer

but i'm not sure if that's a solution

thats why i ask if someone else had the same problem and is sure of his solution

this is a very common problem for these machines it is always caused by the charge roller i have found that if i change all the colour pcu for the black and change over the dev loom it sorts it out

              i had this once also

cyan lines on the copies/prints. shows on the drum

replaced drum unit, it came back within a day. swopped the cyan drum over wih the yellow. the cyan lines came back within a day

replaced the dev unit, vacuumed the drum unit, and tested over a month ok now.

some1 mentioned to me to check the toner dispenser sensor

I've been seeing units where the bias roller in the ITB assy gets stuck away from the drum - usually causes uneven image density or voids on one side of a particular color, but can cause all sorts of odd things. Sometimes bumping the unit while replacing the PCU is enough to free it up - which makes me ask how many times I replaced a PCU because they have such a rotten reputation and it was really a transfer problem but I just got lucky and it fixed itself.
