[Misc] SP9100dn Excessive Dev usage

Hi guys
I have a particular issue, SP9100dn Excessive Dev usage empty after 5k should get above 160k, looking back at the usage I have, 3k, 7k, 84k and 12k, previously I could get over 130k.

Toner cart yield from a Ricoh 9100dn cart is 43K at 5% coverage, which is very low coverage. Any prints over this (which means most of them) will use more toner. Aftermarket carts may produce even less.

If I remember correctly, 5% is a standard business letter with double spaced text and 1 inch margin on all four sides.

Thanks for replying, I know about 5% coverage regarding Toner, but I have 4 SP9100dn printers, but only one is showing this issue, the others are all printing over 160k per developer.

Thanks for replying, I know about coverage regarding Toner, it's not a Toner issue, I have 3 other SP9100dn printers, but only this one is having this issue, all are printing over 160k per developer.

Are you talking about toner or developer. If as davel says it is a martini, then developer yield is 350K. Toner yield is 173K.

hello, try to check the "classification assy, unit" that kind of transparent plastic cylinder (above the development group) the flaps often come off, which act as a reel, if it does not work well the machine may not recycle the waste toner , replenishing the level with the new one ... but this is just an idea!
in case you can repair it, by cutting some pieces of mylar, make an invitation on the plastic with a small soldering iron, and screw them on the structure instead of the unglued ones, with two small screws, like those of the keyboards of old calculators...


is the machine turned off and on often? because if it is like the 9002 when it is turned on it consumes a lot of toner, with its "millennial process control" at start-up.. LOL

Thanks for replying, it is developer powder that is being excessively used, I used to get over 130k per dev, now its around 12k.

Are you talking about toner or developer. If as davel says it is a martini, then developer yield is 350K. Toner yield is 173K.

Developer, used to get over 130k now its down to approx 12k.

The dev units only have a finite life, how many has the machine done? Is it puking dev out of the bushings down the back of the machine?

That sounds more like toner, not developer.
