    [Misc] Ricoh 6054 Printing question.

Does anyone know how many print jobs can this device print out at single pdf print job?

I have client who trying to print up to 1490 prints on single print job (pdf).

It prints like half and times out, or sometimes it starts to print again.

In theory there is no page size limit.

Which pdf viewer are they using?

Try setting to spooling the complete job before printing setting.

        Thanks
Overnight unsupervised large print jobs are just asking for trouble. According to Murphy, anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Print jobs that restart from the beginning are often a power interruption or flaky door switch. Jams at power on, J001, are not listed in jam history SP7507 but are totaled in SP 7504-001.

copier tech's suggestion might help. Another thing that might help is to print to the document server then spool out as a copy job. If it is something that can be broken into suctions then only those sections that have changes since the last printing need to be to the document server the next time.

Try updating the driver, if that doesn't help switch to one of Ricoh's other drivers. Make sure they're not using the Ricoh class driver, also check to see what printer port they are using. The WSD port is no good, use the Standard TCPIP port. As always, update the firmware. Print the SMC report and look for any error codes that might give you clues to the problem.

The universal driver could be part of the problem. Unless you are pooling the 6064 with other printers, you do not need a universal driver, PS universal print driver provides significant compatibility with various printing devices, users can enjoy the simple management and easy operation with a single driver. In addition the current version of the driver is 4.32.0.0. That puts you 23 updates behind. That many updates tells me Ricoh has had unending problems with that driver. Try using the regular PS3 driver Ver 1.6.0.0. Been out now for over a year with no updates.

Along with making sure the port is TCP/IP, make sure the port is set for LPR mode instead of RAW with the queue name lp (as in line printer). It generally seems to help with some print issues, and was hammered into us years ago in Ricoh training to always use LPR.

Which version of Equitrac Office or Express are you running, and are all of its patches up to date?

Also, what version of PCC is installed on the MFP?

Actually it was the first version listed in the history for the 6054.

Forgot to mention that it prints using the extended Large Capacity Tray.

I got this from another forum, worth a try? I would add, update Java.

Did you try a complete PCC uninstall, Java uninstall and flush procedure? For machines with Java installed on controller board.
                            Uninstall all apps including Java.
Do not reboot. Go in Service mode and access SP 5401-200 to 230. Be sure that all of these SPs are set to 0. If not, set to 0.
Once done, perform SP 5832-001 format HDD (all)
Do not reboot. Go to SP 5801-4 (IMH Memory Clear), 5801-11 (NCS), 5801-18 SRM Mem clear.
                            Power off
Power back on. Go directly to service mode.
Format hdd again and than power off
Power back on and let Java recreate itself. Check H&S and ajust accordingly if values are back to default.
                            Reinstall all apps.

I haven't heard of this being an issue, but I have no one printing a 1500 page document either. My suggestion might only be a work around, but have the customer go into adobe reader and print the job in sections. Like pages 1-200, 201-400,...... How large is the document? Adobe reader is a crap program, maybe have customer try foxit or pdf xchange. We had a church a while back that was having issues printing a pdf of about 40 pages with a size of about 5MB. We opened the print queue and hit print, adobe reader blew that pdf into a 200MB document before printing it. Foxit didn't blow it up like that and printed normally.
                              I've proved mathematics wrong. 1 + 1 doesn't always equal 2.........
