Samir: No, not again. I... why does it say paper jam when there is no paper jam? I swear to God, one of these days, I just kick this piece of shit out the window. Michael Bolton: You and me both, man. That thing is lucky I'm not armed.
Dan, Dan, Dan. It is a good machine, especially if you rank a 1224 as a bad machine.
The MP4000/5000 has already pipped the 1224c as the worst Ricoh machine in my opinion. But then again I wasn't working on them during the whole faulty developer unit gear saga.
Hopefully it'll just be teething troubles with a new machine and the new toner blend will finally sort it out, but at the moment with several major account customers in my locality that have use these abominations at mid-high volume and having to carry at least ten bags of developer and a modified developer unit at all times on the car to keep them reasonably happy I wish I could take a sledgehammer to each and every one.
And yep, the MP5500 is a fine machine. Most of the "faults" I attend on these are purely down to user stupidity, the rest are usually a PM part over life.
PM at around 300,000 clicks and this machine will purr right along. I wish I could get a couple of my customers with the Evil MP 4000 to start running more pages so I could get them the chance to upgrade to a 6000...
Exact opposite of a 1224 or MP4000 - have several in a print shop (as well as the previous generations) They can take a beating and beg for more. Only weak spot - if they aren't run hard enough you get flat spots on the pressure roller so the machine thumps or growls when you make a copy and will eventually break the hot roller drive gear if not replaced.
The harder they are run the better - PM cycles in a print shop are a only a suggestion... they stretch
