    IMC4510 SPDF Jam code 239

    Hey guys
I see there is a complete redesign on the SP Doc Feeders for the new 10 series range of machines. They have also added in a few new jam codes, one of them being a "239 Original Removed" jam. Anyone know what this actually is? I've trolled through the service manual and there is very little info on it, or what causes it. Of course the reason I'm asking is I have one of these SPDF with this issue. Randomly the DF feeds and scans all the originals, as it ejects the last page it calls a 239 jam.

I didn't find anything, "original removed?"...it seems that after the last sheet the document presence sensors on the tray sense another sheet that isn't there...and that doesn't reach the next sensor...at least , this comes to mind.....update the firmware, and give all the sensors a good, strong air blow! in particular those for document presence on the input tray

fyi. if you haven't done it yet. and if you had a machine to try it on in your office. you are gonna wanna pull the assembly out that holds the adf feed rollers. it is not in the manual. and it is at least a 30 min project if you haven't done one. those little gears strip out easily. and also the tab? that the gear sits on will easily break off. terribly poor design in my opinion. and it's crazy they redesigned the removal steps. the series and others before this line, you could generally change the assembly out within a couple of minutes. this new design requires a good bit of disassembly to get it removed. i did my first one yesterday.

We have three machines with this fault, tried replacing rollers, sensors, harness, etc.

The problem started after the auto firmware updated to version 2.

One other engineer (via Ricoh Tech forums) fixed their fault with a BICU, however, we fixed two by downgrading firmware from version 2 to 1.10.1, and turn off auto firmware update SP5-886-111 set to 0.

We are in the process of fixing the third machine.

Thanks for the reply. You might be right about Papercut, as this machine only appears to have this problem when scan to me is used. The MFD has only been the field for a couple of weeks so all sensors, rollers etc are in new condition and sensor tests all come back as working correctly. Also the SPDF runs perfectly in SP6-009 Free Run mode. I might look at rolling back the firmware to a previous version.

Thanks for the reply, I will definitely look at rolling back the firmware to the previous version.

Thanks for the reply, "original removed" is listed in the SMC logging data report under original jam (a 239 jam). Not seen this on any previous models so seems to have been added for this new style SPDF. My gut feeling is they have added it as a helpful (but actually unhelpful) way to purge an original that has missed its timing so instead of the customer having to open up the DF to clear the page it ejects it. All the sensor tests check out OK...... the machine has only been in the field for 3 weeks, so everything is all shiny and new and has the latest firmware loaded. Next step would be to roll back the firmware as suggested further down in this thread. Cheers

It has existed for a number of years. It is listed on the Jam Codes of the 2019 Goose's Guide for Model Code C06 as Misfeed: Original Removed (ADF). Also can be found in the C6502/C8003/ Pro C5100S seervice manual Jam Codes.

we had same issues on IM C3010/C3510 with papercut, downgrading firmware to 1.10.1 fixed the issue, would be best to open ticket with ricoh support
