    Re: CL7000 Alignment

Does anybody know where to get Ricoh part G080-3617 Shutter: Density Sensor:Assy?

If I'm reading things right this is the part containing the alignment the ID sensor assembly. Everything else works except the color alignment and the sensors are about the only parts I've not replaced yet.

    Parts Catalog > Ricoh > CL7000 > page 22

Actually I believe that is the shutter with the pads the are supposed to clean the sensors. When those pads get dirty, they can actually cause problems. Take a look at pads and see if you can find felt at a hardware or crafts store to replace them with. The sensor board itself is item 14 G080-5550 PCBensity sensor. You can manually clean the sensors with a soft cotton rag slightly moistened with water only. It might even help to get rid of the cleaning pads in the shutter,

I pulled out the ID sensor strip, cleaned the sensors and removed the felt pads but still no love. Nothing appeared to be dirty anyway so not much of a surprise.

About all that's left is replacing the sensor strip as far as I can see. Not sure how they could be blown, but since there is a service ref to them it would appear to be a possibility.

Static is the biggest culprit followed by noisy AC line or bad AC ground. There are manual setting that sometimes have to be made in order to get adjustment close enough for the automatic MUSIC adjustments be able to finish the adjustment. A have also had to make sure all PCU and DVU were within PM standards.

It's possible there was condensation in/around the sensors when I fired it up after years in storage that could have caused a short. It sounds like Ricoh still has parts but won't sell them unless I sign up for a service contract, which isn't going to happen with this machine.

Apart from replacing the sensor strip it sounds like I need an experienced tech at this point. I tried a manual adjustment and got it "close" but obviously not close enough. Any hints on how to approach manual adjustment? The docs are confusing.

You might Private message sandmanmac. He's the owner of Sandman Sales and Service in Toronto but might know someone in the Vancouver area who can help you. Not many of us old farts around that have experience with those models.
