"Printer is busy" Mac OS, Ricoh IM C3010A

    Hello,

Our customer has an issue regarding a IM C3010A which do not accept any jobs until restart of printer.
The main issue is that the printing queue says "Printer is busy" when trying to print.

This happens on every Mac they have until they restart the printer. This is the second time this week this has occurred.

Do any of you have any tips how to fix this issue? The customer don't want to restart the printer every day.

Make sure they are printing via socket and IP address, and not AirPrint or IPP.

Slow printing is a common fault we've seen with Mac OS, there isn't much you can do about it. However, printer is busy is usually a sign of the certificate used by AirPrint being invalid, best solution is to bypass AirPrint entirely.

I had a similar problem years ago on a Windows. One MP C 2501 would not print. Cycle power on the C2501 and everything in the server queue would spool out. The problem was traced to a 5 year old 32 port switch that the C2501 was connected to. They replaced the switch and no more problem.

i dont know what MAC calls it. but it's similar to what windows does. make sure you get the print driver from ricoh for the specific MAC OS. don't do like the typical windows and just add a driver. don't go the generic route. always causes issues in the long run.

How is the printer installed on the Mac? Are you using Airprint / Bonjour protocol or installing directly with IP Address?

If you have not installed with the IP address, I would suggest you try that first. Use the LDP protocol with the IP address. After the install, ensure that Postscript is selected and not postscript emulation.

If none of these things work, log in to the WIM and enable spool printing.

If it works, don't touch it.
