I cant get over the fact that last month Ricoh were handing out new dev units with filters at least 5 times larger than the originals to solve this problem, but now say it's just the toner!!

I STILL think it's a problem with the airflow causing overheating and the increased concentration of wax in the latest toner melting onto the mag roller.

      4000

I don't want to start a war here but here is my point. There are not good or bad machines...Machines are machines...and don't forget are human made...so our mistakes are in these final products. We can discuss years about 4000/5000...but hey...good news they will replace them pretty soon...with what...don't know and I don't care. Think like this...all of us we are paying the bills servicing these p..o.. j...machines.

We are not the Maytag repair guy and hope we never are.But...when our manufacturer seems to put out equipment that costs us money that they wont repay sends a bad message to the dealers. When you release a piece of equipment it SHOULD work like you say it does.Nothing more nothing less.If not.dont put the POS out in the field!!But dont put it out then say...oh well you need to do do this or that...hell, thats what r&d is for.

I think R&D stands for (Rush the product to the production line & Dump it into the field).

Let's hope the new toner works. They are going to be with us all of 2009.

New toner for 4000 and new toner for Pro C550. It looks like Ricoh changed the supplier. No more recycled wax from churches in their toners and devs . In our last national meeting they announced that 2009 will be a turning point and many "spectacular products" will be launched this year. Since I joined I was forced to change 3 cars to be able to carry all the parts needed. When you have a response time of 3 hours and they monitor how fast you fix a problem, it;s harded and harder to keep up with all the new models and problems they launch on field. We are way behind with training...all you guys (dealers techs) receive better training than us. Every day I must spend at least 2 extra hours for all the paper work and web research to be able to keep up...but hey...it's a great job that force us to be on this forum and have brainstorming sessions

                    (See attached)

Ricoh UK now say the new toner will fix the problem on its own and that the modified units are no longer available

I'll believe it when I see it!!!!
Thank you so much for posting these bulletins. These hasn't been released at the german partner portal so far. Funny how different the information flow is working from country to country....

Thanks to this we figured out that we already received a shipment of this "new" toner with or regular order from early april. All boxes and the bottles are labeled with these new lot numbers (ending with "A"). Well, of course we felt quite surprised because a.) Ricoh told us that the new toner can't be ordered regulary before the stuff is officially established and b.) we never would have recognized it without Copytechnet. We called the hotline and they sounded quite surprised that we got our hands on this intel

yeah, but only because the british explained us how to to find them

                        @all:

Have you checked your stock? Our order was from 02. April (i think) and likle I said this wus just a common order through the regular channels - no fancy special deal. Of course we asked the Hotline if we just got a "Joker" and what to expect after the next order. We also asked what happened if one of our big clients with more than one MP5k is messing around with 2 types of toner. They can't tell but promised a feedback for the next week - we will see.

Btw. the hotline guys knows about copytechnet and the running discussions but they are not allowed to participate here.

I had mentioned in one of the other MP4000/5000 discussions that we had ordered MP4500A toner and were notified that there was a new EDP number (old 884922, new 841346). The toner came in and the lot number is 9096992A.

So does this mean that we received "new, improved" toner? Wouldn't that be nice!

Check the bulletins I attached To a post 2 days ago.

From the Service guidlines it looks like the old EDP code for 4500E toner (Ricoh, U.K) was 884926

                            The new codes are

                            Ricoh: 841347 (Toner, MP4500E)

                            NRG: 841348 (Toner, MP4500)

As I mentioned, these are for UK versions, but since your EDP is similar it looks like you have the new toner.

We are having a hole bunch of fun with this problem. If you check Drum ground you will find it bad. But damage already done. Cleaning Mag. roller with brass brush works on some. others need to change Drum Developer and Developer unit Depends on volume. Herd a rumor new toner is in the works.
