As I understand only when the print is exited does it count on the meter.

However how many time does the machine jam for this to be an issue!?

It does not have jamming issues ,the meter will click even when there is
a normal paper jam or jam is created.

The first thing you need to find out is what the numeric jam code is being displayed when the machine stops. If it is J001, then no true jam has occurred and no entry will be made in the jam history. J001 is a jam at power on. When it occurs during operation, it usual is a bad interlock switch, the machine thinks someone opened and then closed a door. When it occurs during a print job from a computer, the computer will restart the job from the beginning.

If it is not jamming often what is the problem.

It will print a big job but when it jams the meter will count.
The many issue is, a customer is question why the device is recording a jammed/damaged prints/copies.
Latest jam code; J008,J007,J099,J024 and J057.

I suppose an easy way to track that is to reset jam counters at every call (or keep a running total from the SMC logging data), and then credit the customer with the amount of misfeeds they had. We used to credit misfeeds/bad CQ images by counting them in a box next to the machine.
