ricoh mpc 4504 will reboot itself

I have a mpc 4504 that will randomly restart! with no sc codes in the sp 5990-4 log. I have updated the firmware set all the the timers and auto logoff to off turned off the human detect sensor took out the hard driver and the fax option. sometimes it will take 30 minuets of just sitting not being used and it will click then the sceen goes blank and it goes thru the power on sequence. Any good guess is worth the read

thanks i know I can count on you guys

Try Unplugging it from the Network. It could be caused by that.

If all else fails read the Service Manual!

If that fails, meet me at the pub and we will discuss it.

Do you have the C4504 connected to any type of high end power protection? If not then you might be getting spikes or RF noise coming in on the power line. If that is the case, it needs to be remedied immediately before you damage an expensive board.

this is in our prep room I have one other mpc 3004 on that same circuit that is not doing this. I cannot tell if it is losing power or just going thru random resets but it acks like it is getting turned off not the soft reset after changing the network settings. I did change the off switch to no avail starting to think it might be power supply

Is it on a surge unit like an ESP Next Gen that monitors the power? If it is, connect it to your laptop to read the history. Could be voltage is dropping and rebooting the machine.

Also, if it is on a surge unit, disconnect the unit and plug the machine directly into the wall. Some of the ESP have been failing and causing this shutting down.

That in itself could be the problem if they are both turned on at the same time. Two 20 Amp machines on a 30 Amp circuit is asking for trouble.
