I have ran into that problem as well on both a 305 and 306 and it turned out to be the paper that was the cause, but there is a workaround as well that at least works on those two machines and that is under maintenance in settings there is an option of how it should treat normal paper or something like that and there are two modes, switch to the other.
I have a MP C305 that is producing light copies, when running a test page the issue shows up in all 4 colors and they appear to be blotchy as well. This issue is common to all 4 drums so it has to be something involving the ITB or transfer roller, I have replaced both. Perhaps a voltage issue? Thanks!
Common issue on this old model.
Make sure ALL the firmware is the latest.
Also does it improve if doing a duplex print?
