    Ricoh mp c6501

Ricoh mpc6501 in sometimes has lines in red, blue, yellow (black does not) as shown.
    Paper goes sideways, short.
Note that code 3501 will fix if you choose to fix it, and if you choose auto it won't.
Choose a more beautiful, bolder fix
    Hope you can help. Thanks

Looks like charge or dev bias arc, disassemble color units and vacuum out and clean drum, dev, charge, cleaning units.

Looks like either a dirty charge roller or a nick on the cleaning blade in the magenta PCU. Check PM counters. You may need to rebuild the PCUs. The C6501 can be a major toner belching beast if you do not keep them maintained properly.

        if sp3501-1 = 0 (auto) then it didn't always show magenta,yellow,cyan streaks

if sp3501-1 = 1 (fixed) then it has occasionally appeared magenta, yellow, cyan streaks

Process control should only be set to fixed when the ID sensor assembly is bad, needs to be replaced and you have to wait for the new one to arrive.

This is a fact. There is even a bulletin out about replacing the color lube bars at 150K or streaks/lines will occur, and they're not kidding. I do not miss working on this model. At least 1 service call a week.

There are some machines you should walk away from even if you have a ton of experience with it..this machine is one of them. I posted a long rant about this unit awhile back on CTN and you may want to look at it if you decide to go forward with this repair. Some units are not worth repairing.

                Happy New Year!

There is a laundry list of bulletins dealing with toner scattering and light density.

It can be made to work quite well but it is going to require some work and initial cost.
                  1. Bring all firmware up to current
                  2. Apply all service bulletins
                  3. Rebuild all PCU and replace all developers, do not use after market parts or developer
                  4. Apply the changes listed in the attached document

Ever one that I applied the changes in that document worked fine there after and continued to work fine for 5 years until the customers traded them in on newer models.

I never could get those monsters to behave. I wish I would've had that document years ago during the battles.

I had to install a couple at a national account that we serviced and I was not scheduled for training until a few weeks later. The western regional dealer support engineer came to Bakersfield and trained me. He gave that. The settings lower slightly the toner concentration in the developer and corrected the affect on image quality by increasing the transfer to both the drum, the ITB and the paper. Less toner in the developer meant less scattering and extended toner cartridge life. Greater percentage of the toner that went onto the ending up on the printed page meant less waste toner.
