Funny I don't see J17 in service manual:

    7504
[Paper Jam Loc] Paper Jam Location (D158/D159)
Displays the number of jams according to the location where jams were detected.
    001 At Power On *CTL
    003 Tray1: On *CTL [0000 to 9999 / - / 1 / step]
    004 Tray2: On *CTL [0000 to 9999 / - / 1 / step]
    005 Tray3: On *CTL [0000 to 9999 / - / 1 / step]
    006 Tray4: On *CTL [0000 to 9999 / - / 1 / step]
    008 Bypass: On *CTL [0000 to 9999 / - / 1 / step]
    009 Duplex: On *CTL [0000 to 9999 / - / 1 / step]
    018 PFU1: On *CTL [0000 to 9999 / - / 1 / step]
    019 PFU2:On *

Does the paper move at all or is it some kind of "no feed" jam?

maybe J17 appears only with the PB2000?, the paper stops on the first sensor coming out from tray 2 (tray 2 is optional, the machine comes with only tray 1)

Ok, can you test that sensor via Input check?

Is it the first page out of the tray or later in a multi-page run. If the 2501 has a 1 bin exit tray, according to Goose's guide, J017 is a 1 bin tray exit jam.

Hmmmm... It happens only with tray 2...but the strange thing is that the Pb2000 comes as a 3rd tray, but in this machine for some reason its the second tray (machine have only one tray)... Can this be the problem?.. And yes.. It jams on the first page

hi, try to do this, (on the mp2000 it was easier, there were square holes on the frame)
disassemble the plastic to the vertical right of the duplex (looking at it from the front) or the rear panel, you will find where the feeler of the passage sensor comes out, and its sensor, and give a good blow, it gets very dusty, do the same thing with that of passage, behind the metal guide, behind the duplex

however, try to activate the clutch with output check, and try to make it slip with your hand, if you see that it slips with the utmost ease, it is gone, if instead it offers good resistance, then it's ok, maybe you have to keep the drawer switches pressed , I do not remember well
