    Format HDD Ricoh aficio 1022

I know this machine is a dinosaur but can anyone remember how to format the hard disk. I have looked everywhere in SP mode but cannot find it.

Are you sure it has one. The basic Copy only did not come with one.

Yes it has one along with printer card a memory. Anyone in Australia know where I can get a replacement IDE 2.5” drive.

Anything you find will be used. I believe what Ricoh used back then was a 20GB Western Digital WD200. eBay shows some listed.

If the HDD fails format you can see if you can get an external IDE drive caddy and try a low level format connected to a PC. New Egg has one that I have used in the past https://www.newegg.com/jacobsparts-e...0VN-00CU-00020
May need a low level format utility such as MiniTool Partition Wizard.

Once low level formatted the 1022 should recognize it as a new drive at power up and prepare it for use automatically.

SP 4-911 does not exist on our 1022.

Wow. That's a blast from the past. A hard drive was not required with the print option. It was optional even with the print option. The hard drive was needed for duplex printing and document server. 6Gb HDD LOL!!!!! You had to add the Hard Drive option separately but it was not required.

By the way, if you need a ScanRouter expert, I'm your guy.

I even still had the original price book. In my world it was a Gestetner 2212.

Try with ssp (hold down # and press sp) or enter with Yellow 143 c and c again without releasing, in both cases it shows you other sp.
                    Regards

Try printing the Diagnostic Report SP5-905 and see if it lists the HDD. If it doesn't list it then it doesn't recognize it.
