Ricoh C4504ex Print jobs are not printing, Authentication Failure

    Hi Experts,

I am facing a strange problem. Whenever I send a print job the machine receives, it gives a processing sound, a loud beep and then stops. When I checked in the printer logs it shows" Authentication Failure" You do not have privileges to use this function. The job is cancelled.

I have checked through WIM and could not find any authentication active. No user authentication no windows authentication but still its behaving strangely.

Is there any option, Switch or setting to turn this authentication off ?

    Thanks in advance

    Regards

It might not be a setting on the C4504. Make sure that the driver setting for user name is not set to one of the administrators, and that includes supervisor. Administrators have rights ONLY to machine settings and not to functions.

Try check admin authentication in user tool, admin tool. But if you got user, don't turn it off. Need to follow what slimslob recommend to do.

Export the the device settings and after that, erase all memory to see if the problem is gone. If not, you can restore the device settings and keep on looking for the reason.

The driver settings are default. No authentication is anbled or Set. If I connect another machine of the same model it prints instantly. Using the same drivers. I believe there is something wrong with the machine. Some security or authentications.

I connected my own laptop directly with the machine. If I connect other machine of the same model, assign the same IP and use the same drivers for it, it prints. But this one gives long beep and stops. Upon checking the log you will see job cancelled. Authentication failure.

Some time ago there was several machines turning on a function called "IEExxxx Authentification" (somewhere in admin settings) by itself leading to weird issues - IIRC it was not possible to enter the WIM though but you miight check. Otherwise I'd go and reset system settings to factory default as suggested. Some sort of function restriction must be anabled on that machine.

I am going to erase memory. There is another option showing "ERASE HDD" and there are some types to select. Its by default set on " Random Numbers"

                  What to do here

It has to do with the level of security. Similar to DOSS, Data Overwrite Security System.

I selected "Format HDD" and execute memory clear. After that machine restarted and its printing now. Now should I import the old data back to the machine or keep using as it is?

Six the one half dozen the other. There is the chance you could recreate the problem but then is there anything in the old data that you need that is not backed up somewhere else.
