Ricoh c3004 Firmware update via WIM

    Hi Experts,

I have Ricoh c3004 firmware ".pkg" file and I want to update it through Web image monitor (Web browser). Is it possible to update using this method?

    Thanks

I’m not sure but are you asking about MPC or IMC?

if you unzip the pkg file with winrar or other, you will notice that after various sub-folders there are some fwu files, which are not compatible with the format required by wim

no, and I don't recommend, take a SD card and create folder nammed "package", copy the firmware into this folder and insert in the slot 2, start the machine and follow instructions
        regards

Be sure it's "package" but not "Package"
when you start the machine if it's work you will see message like "prepare firmwares update", if you dont't see before one minute the machine don't recognize sd card

If you want to use WIM to do an update you can use the RFUT.exe (RICOH Firmware Update Tool) to download but not install. You can then extract the contents of the file downloaded which should be in the proper format for use with WIM.

They are however compatible with SD card updating.

Before I retired from actively servicing equipment the biggest problems with package firmware were that it only contained those modules updated since the previous package and it did not contain updates for peripherals.

Depends on the size limit for the model. At one time they would not recognize anything larger than 2GB and even then not all 2GB cards. If it will not recognize the SD card for scan to memory device then it will probably not work for updating. There are software utilities available that will allow you to create a smaller participation. Just search for partition wizard.

No, this size is too large. If it's an SDHC card it will cause the Ricoh to error if you try to use it.

I've had users damage the controller board by using the update tool, it can 'crash' half way through the update.

Best & safest way is to update vis SD card.

I've used a 32gb SDHC card to update the package of an MP C2004 once, I'd say it's worth a try, RFUT only as a last resort, can never trust that tool

I doubt that, SDHC cards are not supported by Ricoh devices.
