    Toner Density Ricoh 2003

    Good Day All,

A customer called me to and reported a case of over toning Magenta which is too dark. Is there any system SP needed to be done to get the density back to normal as OEM, toner, drum etc is been used by the customer.

OEM or Genuine Ricoh? There can be a major difference.

Customer can try doing auto colour calibration on maintenance screen in user tools. But leaning towards non original toner because these machines usually suffer from light prints as parts age and can't recall ever running into a single one that over toned.

Could also be misdiagnosed by user and have a failed toner supply or light prints on a different color but they only see their prints having a magenta hue.

Auto Colour calibration had been done on several occasions till same over toned Magenta. I had encounter this before and there was an SP adjustment of which I did and it was ok, but can't remember exactly.

But if developers are driven much beyond the recommended PM count, especially if SP 7942 PM Counter Displayistance(%) are above 100%, you can start getting a lot of toner scattering that will require having to remove all the PCDU's and the ITB assemble and remover all scattered toner on them and in the cavity they mount into, the laser shield glasses and the IDS sensor assembly. Replace any maintenance item that is over count. Clean the optics and after you have everything back together run all Auto Color Calibrations starting with those for copying. There was a time when Ricoh recommended ACC be ran any time firmware was updated. Some people mat say that the CXX03s tend to run light but my experience is that as long as the optics are kept clean, image quality is fine. It only takes a couple of minutes to clean the optics and if that cures the light image no point in wasting time chasing after problems that are not there.

Wait until you get on site, most likely there will be no issue simply the client document is too dark but looks OK on their screen so they blame the copier!

I've found the solution. The design was exported as CYMK jpeg, instead of RGB. I exported as RGB, everything came out fine. Thanks for the contributions.

Good find. That kind of problem can be difficult to figure out.
