Ricoh MP C2500 faded black prints

I have a Ricoh MP C2500 that is printing faded black prints (see attached photos). The colors do not appear very bright either. So far I have:

    • Replaced toner with a genuine Ricoh toner cartridge
    • Replaced developer with a known good developer unit
    • Cleaned TD sensors
    • Cleaned laser shutter unit

The TD sensor fails to initialize in SP 3013 for black and all colors. Any input would be appreciated.

Try taking the laser shutter off.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

have you also overhauled the drum unit? also check if the contact lever on the transfer moves the black roller on the drum

lol you have a good memory^^

I'd also interrupt the print process and check the image on the drum surface.

as guiboss says, check the trigger mechanism of the ITB belt on the black drum, if you have the chance try another complete ITB, and maybe also the black PCU, if you don't have the pcu, move the pieces from yellow to black, to try.
I would also try to add toner via sp a few seconds, in one of the two groups, and see what happens, I'm not very convinced of the shutter, usually all colors do it, and more on one side than the other , however, if it is still there, remove it, it is useless old scrap
p.s. it does not seem like a good idea to initialize the TD sensor on a group where the toner density is unknown, if it is low, then it remains stored like this

One more thing to check, K development clutch.

Clean the id sensors and run ACC first, then troubleshoot from there if needed.

I checked this morning on the SM, I didn't remember how that model's mechanical drive was handled in detail.
actually the friction could really be the cause, in fact on the prints, you can see that it starts well, and at the end of the sheet it prints always worse, classic symptom of defective clutch
