Re: Color stripe (1 cm) on top edge of page.
It's not so much the "40K pages" as it is the 14 years old, combined with number of drum "rotations".
With only 40K copies , this machine must have done A LOT of 1-2 page jobs, which reduces the consumable yields. I relate it to City miles Vs. Highway miles on a car.
So it needs a magenta drum unit - at minimum
As for the "stick", that is not cleaning the drum. it is used to clean the laser slit glass for each drum unit. Most often due to toner particles falling onto the surface -which will create BLANK bands - NOT smearing. So it would have just ben coincidental that you say it was fine.
The drum cleaning can come and go a bit and often is not so bad on the first few pages, but gets consistently worse.Comment

Re: Color stripe (1 cm) on top edge of page.
if it is true that it only has 40k prints, it must only be lucky, taking it apart and drums are really "strong" you can even do three laps!
do some crossing of parts at zero cost, with the yellow drum.
I personally think it is an accumulation of dust and toner in that area of the cleaning blade and / or the charge roller to be washed well with soap and water"loneliness is an invention of the white man, when we are alone we talk to everything around us, we are never alone" (Ojibwa)Comment

Re: Color stripe (1 cm) on top edge of page.
In addition to small page count jobs, The color PCU pick rotation counts every time process control is ran. For most machines that is at least once a day. In 14 years that is hell of a lot of wear on the drums, cleaning blades and the lube bars.Comment

Re: Color stripe (1 cm) on top edge of page.
Thanks for all tips.
Anyone have a link to a parts catalog?
Found one but can't remember where.
All I can find now is the one from Ricoh University in 3D whith colors and that parts catalog sucks...
Trying to find correct parts numbers for cleaning blade and lubrication blade.Comment

Just change the PCU's. D039 2040.It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.Comment

As long as you don't damage the contact spring for the charge roller. If you do, you then have a big problem. Been there, done that.Comment
