Finisher SR3120 making wonky piles and ultimately failing when shift collating

I had finally gotten my shift sort/collate function to work on a 6004ex with an SR3210 finisher (by means of the helpful folks on this forum). However, after 1000 copies or so being shift collated, the quality of the stacking went from almost perfect to very messy, and ultimately spilling off of the finisher and causing jams.

(I tried to post images with this post twice and no luck, they are either too big or so small they are of no use). Anyway, I feel like it has something to do with the small foam roller units at the bottom middle of that output tray. When I watch them, they seem to turn sometimes and at times they are motionless, and at these times, the paper seems to get out of order.

I'm guessing this is an easy fix, but this is causing quite a mess in my process. Plus I'm limited to about 150-200 sheets on my shift collating jobs until it fails, and even then, the stacks are pretty messy

check that the internal support with the arms of the gatherings is well geared with the rest of the mechanism....so..at the eye, they seem a bit too internal to me.....anyway if you feel that they are too softl, change it.

Given that the MP C6004ex was first introduced about 6 years ago, I would say that those gathering rollers are probably shot. Get out your parts catalog for the finisher and order a new set. I would also order some of the nylon retainer clips that hold them on the shaft as they tend to break when trying to remove them. Very order quantity as Ricoh often ships retainer clips in bags of 100.

If the prints are coming out curled the most common cause is poor or damp quality paper.

Try a fresh packet see if that helps.

Had a few cases with exit tray brackets (the one with the rollers) bent out of it's optimal angle. The brackets aren't really sturdy so the entire construction can become misaligned due to force/garbage bins/sideboards....

Sometimes it's just a minor thing but still it can lead to problems if the pile on the exit tray gets bigger.

Thank you. In the parts breakdown, it is hard to know if I would be selecting/ordering the correct parts.

Sorry to ask, but could you advise which parts to order? I have the parts breakdown but am hesitant since it seems a bit confusing as to what I need. I just want to make sure.

Sorry but I do not have that Parts Catalog in my library and being retired I no longer have access to rfg-esource.
