It seems to be any one of the PCU Unit.
You need to test each colour CMYK and isolate the issue with respect to the colour and replace the PCU.

What's so tricky here? Looks like we have a minor groove in the black drum here - you can try and clean the drum assembly/blade/charge roller but that won't be a permanent fix.

        This can help:

What would be interesting to know, But it's like pulling teeth trying to get the answer, is does it happen in B&W?
If so, then it is definitely the black drum unit. If not then it is one of the colour units

All right guys, am I at the incorrect forum?

Is this only meant for smart copier guys talking with other smart copier guys? If so, then my sincere apologies. I navigated to a forum that wasn't intended for me and the types of questions or background knowledge that I have.

If NOT, then tell me what enjoyment you get from the subtle and not-so-subtle jabs some of you take at someone who isn't telling you exactly what you need to know or doesn't post precisely the correct data so that you can answer the question without having to come down to the level of an everyday user?

Firstly, I am very grateful that you folks take the time to peruse forums like this and utilize your time to help others out. But, why do so with a 'holier than thou' attitude? Is to do otherwise somehow insulting to your knowledge and experience level? Do you reduce your self aggrandizing status amongst your peers? It's so frustrating.

All I am trying to do is figure out how to fix this machine that I am truly unfamiliar with, and because I have no background knowledge and live in a decently rural area where you have to wait a couple weeks or more to get a trained technician onsite, I figured that I would lean on some folks who might help me out. Again, if I am in the wrong spot, I'll be happy to seek assistance elsewhere.

Perhaps there is a forum that expect losers like me to post inadequate help requests and will suffer through me trying to provide the correct information in a method that is understandable, enduring tooth pulling delays between answers while I try to perform all the other tasks necessary in running my business.

I suppose this will have to be my last post anyway, since I am guessing that I have insulted all of you who have tried to help me. That wasn't my intent, nor is my frustration with all of you. I just think that it would be better to gracefully guide me on my way to a more appropriate forum, or ask me to provide my experience level or other details so you know who you are dealing with. The alternative of the little jabs while you talk to each other in front of me is very off-putting.

And, oh, by the way, the line is still there in black and white.

We have no trouble helping end users as but are not able to give you a 2 week classroom training course in a couple of paragraphs. The fastest fix that an end user can do for the problem you have is to go online and purchase a new black PCDU, and if you do not already have one, a service manual. and when you purchase a PCDU make sure that it is guaranteed to be Genuine Ricoh. After market OEM parts and supplies do not meet the quality standard and are not fully tested.

              Jesus! Relax champ!
All we needed was your very last sentence.
You see, the colour units aren't engaged in B&W printing, so now we know for sure it's the black drum unit causing your problem.
That's all you'll get from me on the subject -except maybe a red card if you decide to get all emotional again....and you're welcome!

(BTW......wait till you find out the price of those units)

[Imagine Cpt. Picard facepalm meme here]

Actually yes.... (unfortunately "smart" isn't always required)

Still end users - including you -got provided with all neccessary intel about possible and high likely causes for this probem.
While you state "I'm trying to figure out the problem" - you obviously didn't read a bunch of previous posts - it's all there.
At this point and after all these postings you either decide to go from there or realize "that's above my skills" and call a tech.
It's not that surprising that most techs here aren't motivated to babysit this from A-Z but we shure do try and do not refuse.

For example, I like fixing stuff on my car but at some point of complexity I give it away to a repair shop.

Not knowing much about this machine, I thought I would reach out to determine what to do to fix this?

                  Thanks
I saw the defect, almost certainly it is the charge roller, disassemble it, wash it with soap and water, (without scratching it) and give it a good vacuum where the rubber blade is, give a clean with a rag and alcohol to the disassembled drum , before mounting it, lubricate the drum with a soft brush stained with yellow toner.
