    Ricoh Pro 5310 Dusting

We have 2 Ricoh 5310's that are dusting Black toner up onto the laser glass above on the op.side. I have rebuilt the cleaning unit and installed a new developer entrance seal but issue returns. black unit seems to be the only one with the problem. Also wondering how often filters should be replaced in the real world. T.I.A.

I would check your filters and clean ductwork. Real world time depends on the environment the unit is installed. you can change the filters and check each service call document the time and mileage and you will see that in the summer months you have a different life than in the winter time, etc.

If all else fails read the Service Manual!

If that fails, meet me at the pub and we will discuss it.

Does it seem to occur during or immediately after a certain type of job? More specifically does the 5310 have a booklet finisher and the dust shows up during a long run of B/W booklets? Ricoh Production models in the past have had a problem where that they would not start feeding the paper for the next booklet until the booklet finisher had finished stapling and folding the first one. The problem was that the engine components kept running during that delay which could lead to the PCDU slinging toner. I found that a60 ppm office copier with a booklet finisher could actually make 500 booklets faster than a 125 ppm production model.
