MPC3500/4500 Power on jam

I sure hope someone else has seen this.

I have a few of these machines showing a large quantity of jams, code 1. 'Jam at power on'. Goose's Guide says check the doors, but all my door and cover switches check out fine. Tech support is clueless, and insists on reading me Goose's Guide.

I finally caught one in the act. It seems to only do this when outputting to the internal tray. (These all have a finisher, and a b227 bridge unit.) When I output everything to the finisher, it stops the 1 jam.

Could this be because when the solenoid for the gate is firing it is spazzing out the signal from the cover switch? I have maybe twenty of these combos, and three or four have large numbers of this jam. I'll see one of them Monday, and any input would be appreciated.

Replace the bridge unit door switches. The Appolon and Athena have been a bitch for this.

I had a lot of these doing the same thing a few months ago. It's the two cover switches in the bridge unit. I went to the hardware, got some stick on felt pads to use as spacers, put them on the actuators (they looks like a + sign) and haven't had a problem since.

This will also cause print jobs to become "locked up" where the customer must open and close a door to get the jobs to print.

+1 on the switchs, they are now updated, by that i mean longer. i guess heat would cause the doors to move and the switch would activate.

I've seen this occur and was caused by the switches not being actuated. But the cause was that the exit sensor, the one that folds in when you install the bridge unit, was keeping the door from closing completely. Removing the sensor arm resolved the issue on 3 machines now.

That said, I'll revisit them to check the operation of those switches, too!!
