Mp4054 - user code - double info request

Ciao everyone, I have a double request from a school for you about user codes

    1) usually once entered, it remains the same, but is it possible on a PC with the driver installed to enter the user code from time to time depending on which professor is printing? I don't know, with a pop-up?

    2) is it possible to directly view, on the display during copier mode, the residual credit of the user who is copying without going through wim?

....to me it does not appear....but I am not "bravissimo" with user codes, so I do not exclude that there are solutions.

Thanks in advance for the answers

On the first, yes you can create a driver installer that forces a popup to enter a user code, but it will require a code for every print. You need Ricoh Print Driver Packager NX to do this. It's an all or nothing proposition for Ricoh, either put the code in the driver and its the same unless they manually change it or force the code to be entered in the popup.

I'm not sure on the second but others will be along with the answer shortly, I'm sure.

The older Print Driver Editor should work for most PCL6 drivers. Ricoh no longer provides it but it is available from Softpedia.

Another solution is to use a departmental code for computers.

If they are on a domain it might be possible for Active Directory Services to push the user code.

Use of a higher user authentication method than User Codes will use their login information to the computer to authenticate with the 4054.

If you install the latest Ricoh print drivers there is now an option under Printer Properties, Advanced Options, Job Type/Code Dialog Settings to display user code before printing.
          A nice addition by Ricoh

It has been there for years. That is where you go to set the user code. I think the original poster was looking for something quicker to use on a job by job basis.

That's exactly what this setting is for, it will pop up and ask for a user code every time you hit print

That option does not exist in all drivers. I just installed the MPC4504 driver and don't find it there. It's possible that's because I don't actually have that printer installed and so don't have user codes active on the machine, but it may also be just not on all drivers.

In his first post he failed to mention "Set", only display. He then posted that you could also configure the box to pop up for entry. Please try to keep up.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions, I will do some tests with the drivers, and I will let you know ... unfortunately or fortunately, the cases in which there is a request for user codes, is extremely rare from our customers, so I don't remember never good the various options
