[Error Code] Ricoh MP C2503 - E61 Cannot use this function

Hello fellows, today I tried to update the firmware (SD Card) of Ricoh MP C2503 but it failed with error code E61 - Cannot use this function.
I also tried to update online in service mode (806182 C) but doesn't work either.
What this code means? There is another way to update the firmware?

Operation panel looks like the image (Smart Operation Panel v1):

I downloaded the package file from TSRC:

    The error code:

    Thanks in advance.

I Have a feeling that either you have not properly prepared the SD card for use or you are not doing the update correctly. The other possibility is that you either have a corrupt SD card or a corrupt download.

Re: Ricoh MP C2503 - E61 Cannot use this function

Is the firmware update through the compiled "package", or individually?

Remember that the routes within the SD should be:
[Memory Drive]:/romdata/[firmware folder]/[firmware.fwu] already unzipped, for individuals.
      [Memory Drive]:/package/[file.pkg]

      What capacity is the SD?
It has happened to me that higher than 2GB the SD have given me a problem.

Version 03 should not have the smart panel that I have seen from 04 onwards ...

Try updating it using the .fwu files in a romdata folder, I came across several 03s that didn't like the package firmware

.....agree, if the firmware is too old the machine won't handle a package at all, so either you start with the fwu or rfu method.

If the package file isn't working, you can instead unzip the pkg file using 7zip.

With 7zip installed, right click the pkg and extract, ignore the warning messages.
You will get a tgz file, do the same and extract, to get a tar file.

Extract the tar file to get the individual fwu files (and also zip files for the SOP screens).

Update the old fashioned way, and you should be good to go, unless the download is corrupt or for the wrong model.

SOP is/ was optional on '03 series.

But is the poster using the correct F/W for machines equipped with the SOP

Its a FAT32 1GB SD Card. I did as the manual said: Drop package folder on root of SD Card, .pkg file inside. After I turned off the printer, inserted on the second SD Card slot (on the back side), then turned on again. Maybe the download could be corrupted, but Winrar wouldn't warn me when extracting?

Yeah I noticed it's a uncommon version of Android and most of our 03 only have normal op

It's unusual. Seems you're doing everything correct.
I've personally never had any luck updating the firmware in SP mode on any models that didn't come with a standard SOP.
If it continues to fail, then You could also try the Firmware update tool and see if that works

Here is a link to the Ricoh approved SD card formatter. Maybe it will help. Sounds like you may have the wrong firmware. E61-

SOP was installed as an optional feature on these if memory serves...(?)

The SOP was an option for both the 03 color models and the 54 B/W models. It was not yet ready for release when the initial 03 color models were first released so the installation procedures were not included in the service manual. A separate installation manual was issued for the SOP, rfg059499 on rfg-esource. That manual has been updated at least twice due to errors in the procedure. The installations for the 03 color models is also in the service manual for the C2003/C2503. With the first SOP that I installed I has to call tech support due to the differences between the D148 manual and the D178 manual, D178 manual I had did not mention firmware. From what I remember, there are a couple of firmware modules that have to be at a certain level first before the Package firmware can be installed, though since you are working on a C2503 it should be at the correct level.

I wonder if the D1765582T he mentioned is actually for the normal panel? I too no longer have access to TSRC so can't check.
