After power cycling the printer, I'm stuck at 99% of a new attempt of upgrade (1 hour and counting)Comment

Re: Ricoh Firmware Update Tool - Processing Status: Error
There are recovery procedures in other recent posts. If you have the time to wait an hour, you have the time to search the Ricoh forums.Comment

Re: Ricoh Firmware Update Tool - Processing Status: Error
the tool uses rfu files, which have different extension of what romdata (fwu) uses. Are there interchangeable?Last edited by lurker1652; 06-09-2022, 12:54 AM.Comment

NO!!! But you can push them to the MFP from WIM, one file at a time. There is at least one other method that I have seen quoted recently but have never used it. See post #7 in this thread: https://www.copytechnet.com/forums/r...7=#post2151686Comment

Re: Ricoh Firmware Update Tool - Processing Status: Error
If any type of custom firmware is currently loaded on the machine, the RFUT will not work right.NEVER ASSUME ANYTHINGComment

Re: Ricoh Firmware Update Tool - Processing Status: Error
Had to power cycle the printer, then it came back. Update did not succeed though. Same behaviuor trying to use the Ricoh Update Tool and just going through the Web Interfase, so probably is a printer or firmware thing, not a tool thing.Comment

Re: Ricoh Firmware Update Tool - Processing Status: Error
Post a list of your current firmware, someone will spot the custom firmware.
Try using the SD card method, update one firmware at a time until it fails, then you'll know which one is giving you a problem.Comment

Re: Ricoh Firmware Update Tool - Processing Status: Error
That happens a lot with used machines; you have no idea what their pedigree is.
Rarely, if ever, does custom firmware ever get replaced with a production version at the end of a lease, or when the machine is sold outright.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim HawkinsComment
