    MP C6004 morning noise

Hi, All. This is going to be a little obscure, sorry. I have a C6004 that makes a groaning (I think) noise only in the morning when the machine comes out of sleep mode. I have not heard it, but the secretary made a shitty, barely audible recording of the noise, and if I heard it right, it sounds a little like the noise you get when feeding thick paper through a bypass tray. They are not doing that, but it kinda sounded like that. Has anyone experienced morning groaning noises with this model? I have already ran all motors in output mode with no abnormal sounds. Print quality is excellent, and the machine functions fine when I run it, of course. I absolutely hate intermittent sound issues. They are hard to troubleshoot, and I am sure she is going to drive me nuts until this one is resolved. So, I thought I would run this by the techies before I start swapping out assemblies. Thanks. Oh, and it is not the fuser pressure release motor or toner motors topping off the dev units. I am familiar with those sounds.

A total shot in the dark as, like you stated, the complaint is obscure...but the one thing that came to mind for me is I know sometimes the transfer belt can make a noise upon start up when the belt seems like it is "stuck" to the roller bars. It makes a similar sound like thick paper through the bypass but it is only once, not repetitive. Just my 2 cents

its happened to me on mpc2004, and mp4054 if the same, its a paper tray lifting motor noisy, at the end of the run, it acts like a "fart"
the only way its replace it, i tryed to open it, and check internaly, but i not find nothing of strange, you probably must change the lift tray motor

I can sympathize. I do the same thing...but I'm in my sixties, so...

Well, I was there first thing this morning and swapped out the fuser, K PCDU and the ITB assembly. It started up quietly with no weird noises. Pretty sure either the PCU or ITB was the cause. I will run the removed units in a machine I have in the office and see what happens. Everyone have a safe, excellent holiday weekend!
