Aficio 2022 light image

I know, i know , it's a very old machine but customer makes about 20-30 copies per day and he need something very cheap.
The image is ok at the top and bottom but light at the center.
Cleaned optic, laser unit, laser unit glass slit, separation roller and tried with other drum unit and high voltage board but the same.
Any idea?

stop the paper before it reaches the fuser and check the quality of the copy

Can you print from a computer to this ?
Try to determine if it is a scaning issue or image creation, ie. drum, dev, etc
I've seen light copy / scan problems from the frame being bent. (Pull up on front left corner to correct)

1st thing you need to do is determine if your problem is coming from the optics and lens and SBU board or from your imaging unit, laser unit, etc.

I would start by doing this: do an internal print. If the machine has the printer interface installed then press, user tools key, printer, list print and print PCL fonts.

If those are clear and dark then it's most likely a problem with the optics, lens and SBU board. If not then it's most likely laser unit or imaging unit.

Also How's your fuser unit? Check your rollers

If you could post a few samples that would be great

If by top and bottom you mean the edges closest to the front and back of the machine, you may have toner scattering on the shield glass. Before attempting to clean the shield glass, remove the PCU and clean all toner that may be piled up against glass. This will prevent it from falling into the laser unit. Also pull the toner bottle tray and check it. If there is a build up of toner in the bottom of the tray replace the tray with a new one. The tray for the MP xx53 series should fit.

What's the quality of the paper?

Genuine toner and PCU?

Transfer roller been replaced?

Toner hopper full of toner or a dirty toner bottle?
