    MPC4504 color background when scanning

    HI,

Delivered an C4504 last week, (with an SPF)
customer complaines that when he's scanning in color mode (auto), the scan gives an lightly cyan colored background
all settings regarding the scanner mode is standard, no changes . . .

is it an adjustment in the settings or could it be de CCD?
    never seen it before

    thanks in advance

Sounds to me like "someone" did a full SP5801. (uh-ohh)
Colour copies probably have the same effect?
That may be a lovely 'can of worms' to try and put the cover back on.
My first 2 questions would be....how and why did you not notice this this before delivery?
    Because it didn't "just happen".
Seems like a pretty lazy refurb

Start with a thorough cleaning of the scanner section with the glass liquid, then proceed with the automatic color adjustment in user mode, described several times in the many threads

Cleaning the optics won't hurt of course - I've also seen colored backgrounds if the scanner frame has been bent / might have happened during transport with rough handling.

And yes, if it has been refurbed with an "all clear" you might compared the scanner related SP values with the information from the birth certificate.

I have also seen the front left corner of the scanner frame get bent down slightly when not transporting it correctly with included support (located in the main front panel)...I can't fully recall though what the repercussions of that were. I wouldn't go banging around on the frame or anything but I do remember a slight lift up on that corner to the left of the SOP help fix my issue.

Then of course check birth certificate for SP values for the scanner, optics cleaning, ACC.

Maybe check the scan settings as well...some people like to mess with the auto density button and color mode.

true, there was one here on the forum last week who had solved that

                  We've had this before.

IIRC post #11 on this thread did the job for us.

so did you do sp801 (scanner) first? ....because, he speak
about resetting values, why, if the logic of the scanner, is "packed" sometimes in need of a good shake like a reset

                      getting stranger . . .
when making a copy in duplex mode on this SPF, one side is good in color, other one is with a green glow
making a single copy or scan through the original feed the colors again are not good, same original on the glass, its ok!

I escaped that it is an spdf, then everything changes, if in the first step it is bad, and in the second one you see well, then the frame can easily be deformed as someone suggested, as the first step is subject to the perfect spdf-machine coupling, on the other hand, once crossed, the second side it has its closing guide, which provides the correct coupling .... try to pull up the scanner frame upwards with great force.

Sounds like you have a film of oil on the optics
