This is the Gestetner version DSM627. 324K. Recently replaced the PCU. Customer complained about washed out printed pictures. If I run a sky shot there is white lines front to back. No set pattern but bad enough to definitely affect picture quality. Line copy is ok, not enought solids. I replace the PCU again. Much better but still there. This machine is in a woodworking shop. Lots of sawdust. Could this be laser?

Did that also. In this model you have to remove 1 screw on a small plastic cover to access the glass.Comment

I had that same thought so I vacuumed the roller. It made no difference. If it had improved somewhat I would have gone ahead and replaced but since there was no change I'm pretty sure it's something else.Comment

Is this anything like the transfer roller in an aficio 220/270 series? If so, random white marks are one sign that the xfer roller is on it's way out.
Vacuuming one doesnt help, it's conductivity decreases over time.

It sounds like you definitely need a new transfer roller. The latest and greatest part number is B2033831. When this goes, the first problems start showing up in anything with a halftone pattern, like pictures.Comment
