    [Misc] MP305+ randomly not pulling from ARDF, reads from glass. Sensors OK.

    Good morning folks.

    I've got a Ricoh MP305+ that usually (but not always) will not pull the original from the ARDF, reading from the platen glass instead.

    What I managed to gather so far:

    - All the ardf sensors test OK on input check (original, registration, cover and lift);
    - The harness between the ardf and the bicu was replaced;
    - The machine beeps when inserting the original;
    - The lift sensor changes state when lowering the ardf;
    - It's the second ardf we test on this machine for this problem;
    - Sometimes out of the blue it will pull the original from the ardf;
    - Most of the times after rebooting the machine it will pull the original.

    I believe a colleague already updated the firmware, but it will be done again just for kicks.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks.

    I would say change the document feeder lift sensor even if it is reading.

    Next I would look at the ADF board.

    Lastly BICU.

    All the best friend

      The problem remained after swapping ardf?

        Yes.

        That list is a rundown of everything done by me and my colleagues (it's one of those machine problems where everyone takes a shot at it)...

          Sounds like either corrupt firmware or a controller board problem. Try re-flashing all the firmware.

              Thank you. Passed this info onto my colleague, I'll let you know once he tells me how it went.
