    MP C4503 j066

    Good afternoon
Let me start by saying that i am a Kyocera tech so i am unfamiliar with Ricoh/lanier machines. I have a customer that has a Lanier MP C4503 with a single pass doc feeder that jams every time. I apologize i dont know the exact DF model number. I took a picture of the plate but when i looked at the pic to get the model number it was a total white image. (one of those days) J066 is the jam code. The document stops with the lead edge about half way out of the eject rollers. When we started troubleshooting it today the only time we could get a document to pass completely through was to hold down on the top cover. That worked 2 or 3 times but that was all. Some of the weird things i saw were: 1) the top cover don't always clear the error. Sometimes it acts as if it doesn't close far enough to actuate the switch. I can manually actuate the switch and it will clear the error. 2) The machine will display a jam error if the doc feeder is opened (as if you place an original on the glass). I then have to actuate the lid switch to clear said error. I have tested all photointerrupters in the doc feeder and they all seem to change state as they should so i believe them to be working properly. If anyone would help me out i would appreciate it. This customer is down until i sort this out.

    Thank you
    Chuck

    Try here: https://www.copytechnet.com/forums/a...-rd0bl007b-pdf
however perform a thorough cleaning the ADF, photo sensors, rubber rollers. Use spray compressed air. Sometimes I had to detach the ADF from the machine to turn it over and shake it, everything came out ... staples, attaches etc ..

J066 is a doc feed registration jam. Lift the lid and you will see two black mylars on the left-hand side. There is a gap between the mylars. That is where the registration sensor is. Two screws on the metal piece hold this guide in place. Remove that guide and clean the square patch. It should be black in color but will accumulate a lot of paper dust. Hope this helps.

Just had this similar issue on an MP C4504 which has pretty much the same ADF. My tech thought he checked and cleaned every sensor but it still would not work. I came out, cleaned just one sensor, the one Ricoh-ono said, and voila! It works like a charm. Also, with the top lid not closing all the way, sometimes I will slightly bend those metal pins that the lid latches onto to help it close easier.

i have had a few ricohs. usually you just close the adf cover/door. occasionally i have to hold the latch that opens it, then close it completely, then release the latch. sometimes it seems it is completely closed, but still slightly open. just something you might try.

THANK YOU! just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me out. It was indeed the registration sensor. I dont know how we missed that one, although it is kind of hidden. I had to tweak the pins for the door latch (we have had to do that with some of our machines in the past). Thanks again. Chuck
