MP C3003 black streaks appeared and went away for uknown reason

    Hey folks!

One particular machine has weird problem, customer reported a problem, but in the time I got there the problem resolved itself?
I'll post a picture, and try to explain as best as I can.

So the customer states a problem with provided picture. I got there and the problem was gone, another person had a job with circa 400 color pages and everything went fine, no streaks, nice contrast etc. I would say it was a perfect copy.
    Machine has 200k Mono / 210k Color

So yeah, weird problem but I couldn't resolve why that thing happened. At this time, everything just works and its perfect. Fuser sleeve looks okay, silicone roller looks normal, belt unit is fine, not even showing signs of tearing or streaks, color saturation is nice so I presume devs are fine, didn't bother opening drum units, drums also seem okay, they are a bit rough but that doesn't matter. Not sure where to look because I can't replicate the problem, and those ones are the hardest ones.

So yeah, please help with this, at the time I'm clueless, don't know what to look for or where to find it.

In my defense, that particular customer is a bit daft, one time he reported a problem that "printer prints triangles and margines are off" which in fact was wrongly placed paper inside the paper tray, those paper side limiters were set at A3 instead of A4 and there was a few milimiters gap between the right edge of the tray and where paper was put. Point I was making is that there are maybe some "dumb solution" which have fixed this issue which I couldn't figure out, maybe there's some simple and stupid solutions.

    Thanks in advance!

200k mono & 210k colour (actual mono being 410k usage) is past the PM life of the black drum (400k)

To me, this looks a lot like a faulty drum cleaning blade.

You will be looking at an expensive replacement, unless you can swap the drum with another copier.
There are aftermarket drums for these models, but they are harder to acquire; we have had moderate success using them.

Hey, thanks for the fast response!

I also thought about the cleaning blade, but the weird thing is that now everything works just fine, usually when I need to replace cleaning blade they are bad and it's evident on every copy that comes out of the machine, but this is totally different. Soon I'm about to head out there again to check out the drum unit just for the sake of it.
I have couple of spares ready to go so its not a big deal just to change the unit and experiment later, but yeah.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it!

It has happened to me several times that the bk pcu makes stripes intermittently, if the client only makes single sheets they do not come out but when they print several sheets in one job they do.

it is the black pcu that is gone, I suggest you also change the developer powder (380g if I remember correctly)....if you want the pcu to last longer

Thanks for all the help guys, the problem has been resolved, indeed it was the faulty pcu (interminently caused the problem), dev is on order.

              Consider this problem fixed!
